I Knew I was a Yogi When:

IMG_4782

Let’s face it everyone at some time when you have practiced yoga there comes a time when you find out whether or not you are a  yogi!   It’s inevitable!    I, myself, knew exactly when I was hooked on yoga as I am sure you knew too.  But my reasons may be different than yours and I welcome your comments as to when this occurred for you.  But for now, with all the experiences I have had over the past 16 years teaching yoga and being a student of yoga I realized it immediately because:

1) My body and my mind began craving it.  I felt immediate release of stress without all the pounding I had been doing in cardio workouts.

2) My body felt longer and stronger with each practice.

3) I began to heal from the inside out.  All of the damage I had done over the years, those self-inflicted and  from those things beyond my control.

4) I felt joy, joy of accomplishment.  Accomplishment of letting go of unproductive things.   Those things I couldn’t control.  I felt accomplishment in doing things my body hadn’t done in years or ever before!  I felt like a child at play again.

5) I received nourishment for my mind, my body, and my soul that comes from the moments in practice.  And a greater connection with my God.

What can I say?  When those times come and they come often you then come to the understanding you are a yogi.  One who loves and practices yoga for all the benefits listed above and many more!

Let me know some of yours, I would love to hear!

Thanks, Deni, for starting this website! I am excited to see it grow and develop. I agree with all your reasons on being a yogi. I have been practicing yoga around seven years and I have enjoyed it. It truly opened up a new mindset for me, nothing extreme, but a better connection with my life, as you stated in #5. After moving 2 years ago, I wasn’t able to find yoga classes nearby, so I relied on your Total Body Workout on tv or dvd for my yoga. A yoga teacher recently move close so I now have a class to go to, but on the other days, I practice with you!
    Keep up the good work!

Cheryl! I loved hearing from you! It’s so funny how this website is on it’s third time, LOL, with being hacked and information posts of 2 years the website master cancelled and I didn’t know. So hence, now we will give it one more concerted effort! Thank you for hanging with me. I want to be just like you! When you teach so much you don’t get as much opportunity to go elsewhere! So keep being such a great example.
      Many blessings,
      Deni
